3 things to do in Buenos Aires before you go

Before making the journey from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, you may want to take some time to explore the city itself. If nothing else, consider one of the following:

The city of Ushuaia needs no introduction as a travel destination. It is commonly known as the world’s southernmost city, or “the end of the world”. Ushuaia is the starting point for many Patagonia cruises and an interesting city in its own right. Once you’ve finished in Buenos Aires, it’s time to get to Ushuaia. The good news is that you’ve got a lot of options on how to get there.

 

Getting from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia by plane

Flying from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia is the easiest and most direct option. For the most part, it’s also the most expensive – though not always by a considerable margin. The flight time between the two cities is usually under four hours. Check out Skyscanner or Google Flights to research and compare flight prices, but be prepared to spend at least €400 – and possibly a lot more. Flying is a great choice if your Argentina vacation is short, as you will save at least a day of travel time and give yourself the opportunity to explore Ushuaia or Patagonia for longer.

 

Getting from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia by train

It’s not possible to get all the way from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia by train. If you were determined to take a train, you could go part of the way and then switch your mode of transport. Even better, however, is the bus.

 

Getting from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia by bus

Talk to anybody that has made the trip, and they’ll tell you that the bus is the way to go. Argentina’s bus network ranks among the best in the world. Buses are state of the art and service is excellent. Taking the bus will take at least a day and a half, so factor that into your schedule. If you are not in a hurry, you can break up the journey over several days. This way, you can hop on and hop off at different points throughout the country and see more of the Argentinian landscape.
