Adventure balloons and other adventure holidays

Hot air balloons are a particular ostentatious mode of transport, but they make for some unforgettable vacations. If heights aren’t your thing, we can recommend the best place on earth for diving alongside deadly sharks. If you don’t want to get your feet wet, there’s also whale watching in Patagonia to consider. That’s not to mention the thrills to be had from safari adventures. Strap in tight and let’s look at some of the world’s best adventure holidays.

1. Adventure Balloons in the UK

Humans have always been fascinated with the skies, and in the past simply flying in an aeroplane was thrill enough. With the advent of commercial air travel, the spark just isn’t there anymore. What’s so special about sitting in first class (or coach alongside a crying baby, for that matter) anyway? Between TV, movies and wi-fi, air travel can feel decidedly unadventurous these days. For those that want to take to the skies for real, nothing beats a hot air balloon experience such as that offered by Adventure Balloons in the UK.

2. Diving with great white sharks in Mexico

If adventure balloons sound a bit too airborne for your liking, this might be for you. Mexico’s Guadalupe Island is the best place on earth to take to the waters and view the majestic great white shark. There are few creatures on earth more fearsome than the white shark, so what better for thrillseeking holidaymakers? Dangerous as it may sound, shark diving is concerned first and foremost with safety. You’ll be submerged in secure cages and surrounded at all times by seasoned professionals. There’s nowhere in the world that offers a greater likelihood of seeing a shark in the flesh.

3. Whale watching in Patagonia

Looking sharks in the eye might seem a little over the top. Another marine-based adventure is to head to Patagonia to watch whales in the wild. The waters around southern Patagonia have plenty to offer, but nothing quite beats the spectacle of the southern right whales at the Valdes Peninsula. Within the peninsula, Puerto Madryn and Puerto Piramides are among the best viewing spots. If you’re really lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of orcas in the wild. Unlike shark diving, you won’t actually get in the water this time, so no need to be too scared.

4. Safari adventure in Kenya

Looking for something between the heights of adventure balloons and the depths of shark diving? Look no further than safari. Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya is one of the best safari destinations on earth. It offers the chance to see each of the so-called “big five” safari animals, namely the African lion, the black rhino, the cape buffalo, the African elephant and the African leopard. These are the most fearsome game animals on the African continent, and an adventure safari here will offer the chance of a lifetime to see them all in the wild.
